WIHI Conference

The main activity of the Women in the Horticulture Industry project is 11 webinars (online classes). However, the project also includes an opportunity for the participants to attend a two-day conference in Adelaide. The program for the conference will be tailored to suit the interests of the group, but will generally include topics on soil management, market access, work/life balance and leadership. The conference will also include a comprehensive tour of the Northern Adelaide Plains vegetable growing district, with visits to the Bolivar Wastewater Treatment Plant - to learn about the use of recycled water on horticulture in the area, a number of packing sheds and a large-scale glasshouse (all pending availability).

The conference is also a great opportunity for the participants to meet each other in person and develop their network. This will work towards ensuring the group continues to communicate with one another during the project & following the completion of the project. At the conference the group will also be able to meet with key Horticulture Industry personnel and grower representatives.

The conference was held on March 21st & 22nd, 2012.
